AFP Washington’s 5th Annual Symposium on Major Gifts is designed to go upstream and look at the surrounding environment and culture needed for successful major gifts. We will give fundraisers essential tools they need for success and create an opportunity for executive leadership to understand their role and impact in philanthropy.
This year will focus on how to UNITE those with shared values around big ideas to IGNITE lasting impact. Successful major gifts professionals are skilled at engaging key groups and inspiring their support, yet major donors want to know: Why are organizations often only ready for and clear on why they need transformational gifts – with big ideas, clear visions, solid plans, best practices and trained troops – during major campaigns? Isn’t your daily work worth major investment? This year, we will go deeper into "Creating the Environment for Major Gifts" by exploring the vision, leadership and values needed to attract larger gifts between campaigns and how to light the fire throughout your organization to clarify your vision and strategic direction.
Our approach to the Symposium will be “shaken up” this year with less reliance on one major speaker and instead include a mix of regional experts, peer case studies, challenging conversations, time to work on our own organization’s needs, a chance to assess your own values and leadership, and of course, humor.
Interested in sharing a resource or tip during one of our “commercial breaks”? We are currently recruiting local experts to share practical, real-world tips, tools, and stories related to the themes of this year’s Symposium. Click here for more information.
