AFP Chapter Update

May 2011

It is hard to believe that it is almost Memorial Day and the start of summer. While fundraising activities typically slow down during the summer months, the Every Member Campaign (EMC) is just starting to heat up. The 2011 EMC calling program started this month and is doing well. Thank you for encouraging your chapter members to give when they are called throughout the summer.

I would like to thank each of you for your continued support and hard work on the Every Member Campaign on behalf of the Foundation. Without your help, we wouldn’t be able to reach every member of AFP.

Thank you for all that you do!

Chapter Tally Report UPDATE

As you are aware, we have been having major problems with the software that transfers gift information from the fundraising database to the Chapter Tally Reports each night for the past several weeks. Neither the AFP IT department nor the software vendor has been able to find and correct the problem. They continue to work on this problem every day. We know that it is frustrating for you and all of the chapters, and it is terribly frustrating for us as well.

As an interim response, we have been manually updating the Chapter Tally Reports a couple times each week. This manual approach requires several hours of staff time to do, which is why we are unable to update the reports on a daily basis.

Please know that we are willing to look up a specific donor if a question should arise. Please send Michele an email at mdrumm@afpnet.org with the name and information and she will get back to you as soon as she can.

We very much appreciate all of your efforts on the Every Member Campaign, especially now during this technology problem. We will continue to update you on this situation.

May Every Member Campaign Report

As of May 18, gifts to the 2011 Every Member Campaign were over $167,000, which is comparable to this same time frame last year.

The EMC Calling Program started on May 9 and so far we have raised over $8,000 from 139 donors.

Chapter Treasury Campaign

As of May 23, 44 chapters have pledged or given a gift to the campaign totaling over $32,000.

Your chapter’s gift does make a difference! Gifts to the Chapter Treasury Campaign support scholarships, such as the Chamberlain Scholarship, research, lectures and other educational programs that develop the knowledge and skills needed to advance philanthropy.

As of May 23, 27 chapters have let us know that they have achieved 100 percent board participation in the 2011 Every Member Campaign. If you have achieved 100 Percent Chapter Board Participation, please let the Foundation know.
