AFP Chapter Update

March 2011

It’s hard to believe that is the end of March already – where has the year gone?

Springtime is always a busy time at the Foundation with the International Conference, which was last week, and the EMC Calling Program starting in May. I know many of you are busy as well running the Every Member Campaign for your chapter. I’d like to thank each of you for all of your time and effort in doing this - we appreciate all that you do all year long.

I hope that if you were at the conference in Chicago, that you learned a lot and had a great time connecting with fundraisers from across the globe. We had over 4,200 attendees. If you weren’t able to attend this year, hopefully you can go next year when the conference will be in Vancouver, B.C.

100 Percent Chapter Board Participation

Board members who give to the Every Member Campaign lead by example. It is difficult to ask the AFP members in your chapter to give, if your leadership does not.

As of March 30, one chapter has let us know that they have achieved 100 percent board participation in the 2011 Every Member Campaign – AFP CA, Wine CountryChapter. If you have achieved 100 Percent Chapter Board Participation, please let the Foundation know.

For recognition in AFP eWire and in the 2011 EMC Calling Program, please report this outstanding achievement to the Foundation by May 1, 2011. You can find the 100 Percent Chapter Board Participation in the Foundation Development Chair Resources Section on the AFP website.

2011 EMC Calling Program

RuffaloCODY will once again be providing pro bono calling services to the AFP Foundation for the 2011 Every Member Campaign Calling Program. The calling program is expected to start in the beginning of May. Once I have the calling schedule, I will let you know when your chapter members will be called. If you would like to request a certain time, please send me an email. The past two years, RuffaloCODY has started alphabetically by state and the calling program runs from May to September.

If your chapter would like to opt-out of the calling program, please fill out the 2011 EMC Calling Program Chapter OPT-Out form.

If your chapter would like to participate in the calling program but would like to suppress certain members, such as your Chapter Board, please fill out the 2011 Every Member Campaign Calling Program Chapter Member Suppression Form and send it to the Foundation along with an excel file with the members’ name and member ID# - no later than April 15, 2011.

If you have any questions, please contact Michele Drumm at mdrumm@afpnet.org or call (703)-519-8446 or (800) 666-3863, ext. 446.

Tips to Make the EMC Successful

Question: Does the Foundation send out pledge reminders to donors? How often are they sent?

Answer: Yes, the Foundation sends pledge reminders in the middle of each month. We send pledge reminders to those donors who ask for them in a certain month; for any past due pledges from the previous campaign year and for any current pledges that are past due. The pledge reminders are sent in the mail and occasionally sent via email.
