Where will the next generation of philanthropists come from? The obvious answer is from the youth of our country and the world. The same answer applies to the next generation of ethical fundraisers. AFP has an obligation to promote and encourage the involvement of young people in philanthropy and the profession of ethical fundraising. Historically, much of this work has been done at the chapter level within the Association.
In 2000, Steve Batson, Ed.D., CFRE, then incoming Chair of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, identified increasing the visibility and stature of Youth in Philanthropy initiatives within the Association as a personal goal. Since that time, the Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) Task Force has been working to make this goal a reality.
The mission of the AFP Youth in Philanthropy Task Force is to help chapters and the profession involve youth in philanthropy.
