Thank you for registering for the very first AFP TechKnow 2012 Conference coming up in just a few days. Don’t forget that the Conference kicks off with a joint AFP TechKnow/Planet Philanthropy Reception on Sunday, June 3, from 6-8 p.m. (see below for more details). We hope you can join us!
Before you leave we want to ensure you have all the information you need to make the most of your time in Orlando. Orlando, The Gaylord and TechKnow - Oh My!
Orlando is a wonderful town to visit and explore for a conference, and the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center is the perfect venue for all your needs, both professional and personal. Here are some details to keep in mind:
Weather: Remember to bring your sunscreen and sunglasses! It gets hot in Orlando in June with a daily high of 89ºF and low of 70ºF. No worries – The Gaylord has a/c and pools!
Dress Code: Dress is casual and we advise against ties. We want you to be comfortable and enjoy your experience. Remember to bring a jacket or rain coat and of course your swim suit
Exploring: Orlando is a walking city. Remember to bring comfortable walking shoes ... and your swim shoes if you plan on enjoying the pool.

CFRE Points: Up to 9.25 CFRE Points of continuing education credit will be awarded for attending AFP TechKnow Conference education sessions.
Registration, Session and Event Updates!
AFP TechKnow Conference and Planet Philanthropy Reception: You are invited to attend this joint reception for the AFP Florida Caucus’ Planet Philanthropy and AFP’s TechKnow Conference attendees! Socialize and network face-to-face with your fundraising and nonprofit peers while enjoying food, drinks, and entertainment. The reception will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2012, 6:00pm-8:00pm in Osceola Ballroom C.
Registration/Name Badges: Name badges and registration materials will be available for pick-up at the pre-function area of the Osceola Ballroom on the Ballroom Level of the Gaylord Palms Convention Center. Registration hours are:
- Sunday (June 3): 3:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
- Monday (June 4): 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Tuesday (June 5): 7:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
AFP TechKnow Hub: Please visit our exhibitors in the AFP TechKnow Hub! The TechKnow Hub hours are:
- Monday (June 4): 7:30 a.m. – 6:15 p.m.
- Tuesday (June 5): 7:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
A continental breakfast and lunch will be served Monday and Tuesday in the AFP TechKnow Hub!
Program Updates: Be sure to review the AFP TechKnow Conference Program for final programming opportunities while in Orlando. The program will be available for all conference attendees on-site. Pick up your copy at the registration desk beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 3.
Education Session Handouts: Before you leave for Orlando, make sure to visit our website and print out any handouts for the sessions you will be attending. Available handouts are provided in PDF format and can be found at http://www.afptechknow.org/handouts.cfm. In AFP's effort towards going "green," session handouts will be available online only; hard copies of sessions will not be available onsite. Please note that providing session handouts is the discretion of the speaker(s) and many have not submitted handouts in advance.

Session Evaluations: Session and speaker evaluations will be available for participants online. Each TechKnow Conference attendee will be sent an email at the close of the conference day and will be given the chance to evaluate the session and speaker. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the online evaluations.
Do We Have Wi-Fi?
Of course! Wi-Fi will be available in the TechKnow Hub and session rooms during the conference, but you do need the user name and password. They are:

A reminder to turn off any devices you are not using while at conference—we want everyone to enjoy fast, plentiful bandwidth!

At the AFP 2012 TechKnow Conference, both Laura Howe at the Opening Session and Steve Wozniak at the Closing Session will be responding to questions submitted by attendees and others regarding technology and how it interacts with the world of fundraising and philanthropy. Please send in your questions and ideas, and we will let Laura and Steve select the best ones for answering!
Social Networking Sites, Hash Tags, Mobile Site
For TechKnow, AFP is deploying a full range of sites and platforms to enhance your conference experience. Of particular note, AFP has developed two mobile tools for both attendees and anyone interested in following the event.
The conference mobile site afpmeet.org can be viewed across all smartphone browsers (iPhones, Blackberries, Droids, etc.). Create a personalized daily schedule, search speakers and exhibitors, access the TechKnow Hub floor plan, follow the conference on Twitter, and more!

Over the two-day course of the conference, Visa and AFP will be conducting six Twitter polls with questions on mobile giving, donation trends, and the like. Poll questions will be sent every few hours using the #VisaAFPTechKnowPoll hashtag, and be sure to bookmark and follow the @VisaAFPTechKnow page to see the results. AFP Live – More Sessions, More Fun!
The learning doesn’t stop with all the great sessions we will have over the two days of TechKnow. The TechKnow Hub will also feature AFP Live, where a select group of speakers will deliver a succession of 10-15 minute-long informal chats designed to generate questions, discussions and insights – no screens, no slides, just inspiration!

AFP Central – Tune In, Turn On, Drop in!
Also in the TechKnow Hub will be AFP Central – the one-stop shop for all your AFP-centric needs and questions. Staff will be at the ready to assist you no matter the need.
In addition, because AFP is committed to experimenting with new educational opportunities to provide you with the best and most innovative fundraising knowledge and guidance, we will be bringing the conference experience to everyone! AFP Central will be the home for two live radio shows during TechKnow. Each day at noon, these interactive shows will feature technology leaders in business and philanthropy. Charity:Radio, with hosts Jonah Halper and Brian Reich, will sit down with Cisco's technology evangelist, Carlos Dominguez; American Red Cross' social media champion Laura Howe; and Tonia Zampieri (Mobile Strategist for Atlantic BT), to discuss how charities can implement a mobile strategy and technology roadmap.
Tuesday, June 5, Noon – 1 p.m. (ET): The Nonprofit Coach with Ted Hart Web/Radio Show
Ted will be hosting Steve Wozniak (invited, co-founder of Apple), Cheryl Black (Blackbaud), who will be presenting on infusing social media campaigns with personality, and Robin Fisk (ASI) who will discuss how charities can best integrate all things Web and technology.
