As editor of the AFP Fundraising Dictionary, Barbara R. Levy, ACFRE is a seasoned professional with 30 years experience in the development profession. She is one of a limited number of individuals who have qualified for and earned the Advanced Certified Fundraising Executive (ACFRE) credential. Barbara is a nationally recognized consultant and speaker on fundraising as well as board and organizational development. In 1998, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (then NSFRE) recognized Barbara at their International Conference as the Outstanding Fundraising Executive. She has authored numerous articles and was co-author of Successful Special Events, Planning, Hosting, Evaluating, Aspen Publishers. Most recently, she authored a chapter titled "Taking Your Fund Development Program to the Next Level." This work is included in the supplement to The Nonprofit Handbook edited by James Greenfield and published by John Wiley & Sons. She served as the editor for the NSFRE Fund-Raising Dictionary, and has served in that same role for the AFP Fundraising Dictionary. Barbara is a graduate of The University of Vermont, The Fund Raising School, and The National Planned Giving Institute.

R.L. Cherry, author, editor, lexicographer, playwright, teacher, and researcher, has served as editor or contributor to the Houghton Mifflin Intermediate Dictionary, Funk & Wagnalls dictionaries, the four supplements (1972-86) to the Oxford English Dictionary (Clarendon Press), Papago/Pima-English, English-Papago/Pima Dictionary (The University of Arizona Press) and currently researches for the O.E.D. He lexicographized The NSFRE Fund-Raising Dictionary (1996) and was on the staff of the University of Arizona Press when he wrote four books about the Enlish language. He was also on the teaching faculty of the Center for English as a Second Language at the University of Arizona. He has taught music theory, U.S. geography, and Latin to O-level and A-level GCE students in England for six years. Mr. Cherry holds an M.A. in E.S.L. from The University of Arizona, an M.A. in English from The University of Colorado, Boulder, and a B.A. in English from the University of Virginia.
