Live From AFP: Annan Pushes Philanthropic Collaboration
If you wish to go quickly, according to an old African proverb, go alone. If you wish to go far, go together. Kofi Annan, former secretary-general of the United Nations, used the proverb to help articulate his message of collaboration in philanthropy during his remarks at the opening general session of the annual AFP conference in Boston on Sunday. Awards Nominations Deadline Extended to April 1!
No fooling! We've extended the deadline to submit video nominations for AFP International's awards program, the National Philanthropy Day Honors. Anyone can submit a nomination within six categories: Philanthropist, Volunteer Fundraiser, Corporation, Foundation, and Youth (Individual and Group). Nominations must take the form of a short "selfie" video—a person talking to the camera about the impact the nominee has made, no longer than two to three minutes. Nominations can be submitted here online at the AFP website. You can find an FAQ here with more information about the program and how to submit nominations.
Canada: Federal Budget Doesn't Include Capital Gains Exemption for Gifts of Private Company Shares and Real Estate

AFP had included a recommendation to include those provisions in the budget, and we are disappointed to see them left out. We will continue to engage the federal government on this important incentive. For more details on the budget, courtesy of Mark Blumberg, click here.
