Canada: Canadian Government Proposes Larger Tax Incentive for Donations Against Donors Income Over $200,000
Mark Blumberg reports that in addition to creating a new higher top marginal tax rate for those earning income over $200,000 (from 29% to 33%), the federal government in Canada is also increasing the tax credit for donors that are in the new 33% marginal tax bracket, meaning greater tax incentives to give. New Report Shows Volunteerism Down Slightly
The Corporation for National and Community Service reports that just over a quarter of adults in the U.S. (25.3 percent) volunteered with a charity in 2014, down a tenth of a percentage point from 2013. Data from "Volunteering and Civic Life in America" includes volunteer rates and rankings, civic engagement trends, and analysis for 50 states and 51 cities across the country.
