Vote For AFP IHQ's National Philanthropy Day Honors Awards!
Voting is now open for AFP International Headquarters' National Philanthropy Day Honors, awards that recognize the best in philanthropy, generosity, dedication and selflessness. More than 70 video nominations have been received, highlighting outstanding work across six categories—outstanding philanthropist, volunteer fundraiser, corporation, foundation and youth in philanthropy (individual and group). Everyone is eligible to watch the video nominations and vote—up to six votes a day, one vote in each category. AFP Submits Comments to Senate on Tax Reform, Charitable Incentives
AFP has submitted comments to the Individual Income Tax and Business Income Tax Working Groups of the Senate Finance Committee, calling on the Senate to keep the charitable deduction in its current form and look for other incentives to encourage charitable giving, including the IRA Rollover Provision. In addition, the Charitable Giving Coalition, which AFP chairs, has also submitted comments to the Finance Committee on these issues.
Alberta Government Reverses Course on Charitable Tax Credit
After originally planning to lower the charitable tax credit, the Alberta government has changed its mind and announced it will be keeping the rate at 21 percent. AFP had been in contact with the government and was planning to engage members in a communications campaign on the issue.
Nominations Now Open for the AFP/Skystone Partners Research Prize
Applications for the 2016 AFP/Skystone Partners Research Prize are due Nov. 1 to AFP International Headquarters. To be considered for the Prize, works must be published by a commercial publishing house or a professional organization between December 1, 2013 and November 1, 2015. Publications must be based on either applied or basic research. Learn more.
