Charities, Fundraisers Call New Tax Plan a "Mixed Bag"—Appreciate Simplification, Concerned About Impact on Giving
Rep. Dave Camp (R-Mich.) has introduced a tax proposal that would extend the date for taxpayers to make a charitable contribution and take a tax deductionletting donors make gifts closer to the date of their tax filings, with the hope that more people would give. On the flip side, contributions could only be deducted if they exceeded two percent of the individuals adjusted gross income, which could decrease giving by more than $3 billion.
