Taxation Committee Releases List of Reform Proposals for Charities, Philanthropy
The IRA Rollover, the non-itemizer deduction and the conversion of the charitable deduction into a tax credit are just some of the proposals included in the Joint Committee on Taxation’s report on the House Ways and Means Committee’s Tax Reform Working Groups. Read more.
Google Search Results Now Prominently Feature Nonprofit Google+ Pages
And yet another reason why your nonprofit can not ignore Google+: Google Knowledge Graph, which now prominently features information about nonprofit organizations on the right-hand side of Google Search results. Data is pulled from multiple sources including Wikipedia, GuideStar and of course Google+ Pages. (NonprofitOrgs) Read more.
Audits Show Widespread Underreporting of UBI
Unreported unrelated business income in higher education was found in almost every case examined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). As part of a multi-year project on tax-exempt colleges and universities. The IRS selected 34 of the 400 institutions for examination because their questionnaire responses and Form 990 reporting indicated potential noncompliance in the areas of unrelated business income and executive compensation.
