2014 AFP CFRE Review Course

The AFP Aloha Chapter CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) Review Course Series is an ongoing education series offering development professionals in Hawaii an opportunity to review the main components of a complete fundraising program in readiness for the CFRE credential. Course modules provide an overview of skills, techniques and program components based on professional fundraising experience at the five-year level. Content is organized around the CFRE exam domains: Current and Prospective Donor Research, Securing the Gift, Relationship Building, Volunteer Involvement, Management, and Accountability. This course also helps mentor CFRE bound candidates with the application process.

Participants may start at any time in the series (March-October) and opt to take the entire course or pay to attend a module session of their choice. One time module session fees will be applied toward the entire course fee if participants join the entire course cohort. Those who complete the full course will qualify for scholarships that support partial coverage of CFRE testing fees. If you are registered for the entire course and miss any modules, they may be “made up” when the course is offered again in the following 10-12 months as the series will be recurring.

Participants will engage in fundraising problem-solving with top-notch professionals and network with fundraising peers throughout the series. Attendees will be mentored through the online CFRE application to support point compilation and completion and identify areas of need in the process. A participant manual is included with the course.  Full participation in the AFP CFRE Review Course is applicable for 13.75 points in Category 1.B–Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification.

We will also be offering webinar capabilities for each of the modules which will give neighbor islanders/remote attendees access to the course. We will be charging an additional fee of $15 per module to cover the technology fees if registering for individual modules only. For those registering for full participation, the webinar fee will be waived. Please contact John Ciambrone if you are interested in this option (see contact info in the More Details section below).

Please Note: Participation in the AFP CFRE Review Course may assist you in learning or reviewing concepts covered on the Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) examination as detailed on the Test Content Outline provided by CFRE International. However, the AFP CFRE Review Course is not designed specifically as a prep course for the exam. It is designed to provide a review of concepts one should know at the five-year experience level.

AFP highly recommends that the review course be just one of the resources you use in preparing to take the CFRE exam. Your study should also include reading books that appear on the CFRE Resource Reading List. The CFRE Resource Reading List and other resources can be found at the CFRE International website, www.cfre.org.
