Promoting and Supporting Fund Development as a Profession (CFRE Certification)
Presenters: Laurie Wolf, The Foraker Group; Megan Olson, UAA
Developing Fundraising in Alaska: Your Career and the Profession as a Whole – a program for development professionals and executive directors of Alaska nonprofits.
In 2013, CompassPoint Nonprofit Services and the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund released UnderDeveloped: A National Study of Challenges Facing Nonprofit Fundraising. You can access the study here.
This study reveals that many nonprofit organizations are stuck in a vicious cycle that threatens their ability to raise the resources they need to succeed. And the “revolving door” of many development director positions is at the heart of the issue. Executive directors and boards play a key role and organizations need to make fundamental changes in the way they lead and resource fund development in order to create the cultures and systems that support fundraising success.
The Foraker Group has convened a task force to make recommendations to the Foraker board about what role they might play in supporting philanthropy and the profession within the nonprofit sector in Alaska in partnership with other organizations. Members of the task force will be on-hand to lead a discussion and brainstorming session and to hear your input. We will be joined by Laurie Wolf, MNPL, CFRE, Vice President and COO, The Foraker Group along with Candace Winkler, President and CEO, The Alaska Community Foundation, and others for this engaging discussion.
Luncheon pricing is $22 for members and $30 for non-members. Please note, attendees who have not RSVP'd will be charged an additional $5 at the door.
