Planning a Strategic Cause Marketing and Partnership Effort for Your Nonprofit

Speaker:   Parker Pike, Co-founder and Consultant,
                   San Diego Social Innovation Trust
Marketing Instructor, UC San Diego Extension
                   Board Member, San Diego Nonprofits
                   Co-owner, Village Mill Bread Company

If your nonprofit has considered a cause marketing or partnership effort but doesn't know how to get started, this workshop is for you! Parker Pike, known by many in San Diego as the “father of cause marketing,” will share the key factors a nonprofit must consider to achieve their objectives while providing value to their corporate partners. For nonprofits to truly take advantage of the benefits of cause marketing, they must consider corporate social responsibility, partnership development, advertising, and branding. By the end of this workshop, you’ll have a clearunderstanding of cause marketing, how to pitch companies from a position of strength, and whether your nonprofit is poised to pursue a partnership.

Learning Objectives:

  • Value your nonprofit’s resources and assets (in dollars and cents)
  • Decide whether to pursue a cause marketing or partnership program
  • Understand how using the “sponsorship” in proposals can automatically disqualify your proposal
  • Learn why companies hate galas, golf outings and special events
  • Learn the first steps in developing a cause program

Who Should Attend: Entry-level to seasoned fundraising professionals with a direct involvement in their nonprofit’s corporate partnerships; executive directors; and advertising, PR and communications executives (media partnerships will be presented).
