Call for Candidates to Serve as the AFP Board CPC Representative is Now Open Access Restricted
(August 6, 2014) Under the AFP governance structure, one board seat is held by a representative of the Chapter President’s Council (CPC) on the AFP International Board of Directors. The Chapter Presidents Council (CPC) is the group comprised of Presidents from all chapters. The AFP President and CEO and the AFP Board Chair are ex-officio members of the CPC. The Association governance structure ensures that all chapters and members are represented and have a significant role in Association strategy and oversight. The CPC serves as the forum for feedback, networking, identification of issues, and dialogue for Chapter Presidents, as well as holding certain governance responsibilities. The governance responsibilities of the CPC are to elect a representative to the AFP International Board of Directors and to elect, by District, representatives and alternates to the Committee on Directorship (COD). The voting meetings are held only during the Leadership Academy in the fall.

WEBINAR (Oct. 28, 2013) – Spam Law - Recent Legislation and its Impact on Canadian Fundraisers and Charities
(September 21, 2013) Although not yet proclaimed, Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation ("CASL") is expected to come into force sometime in 2014. The Act will apply to both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. CASL will regulate commercial activities conducted through electronic means and will prohibit spam, hacking, malware, fraud, invasion of privacy and address harvesting. Of particular relevance to Canadian fundraisers and charities are CASL's provisions governing spam. They will impose certain requirements on all fundraisers and charities that send commercial electronic messages ("CEMs"). Specifically, consent from the recipients will be required and the CEM's must meet the prescribed information and form requirements and provide an unsubscribe mechanism.

After several surgeries, doctors believed she would never walk again and told her parents it was unlikely she would live to be a teenager. True to her nature, she would later run into the surgeon’s office to thank him for “helping me walk again.”
