AFP Foundation for Philanthropy - Canada has identified its key objectives to be:

  • Enhancing Ethical Practice,
  • Building Satisfying Careers, and
  • Strengthening the Sector & Society.

While establishing these objectives, the Foundation developed the following goals:

Goal #1:  Create Sector Advocates through Education

Goal #2:  Build Philanthropic Leaders through Scholarships

Goal #3:  Strengthen the Sector through Career Mentoring

Goal #4:  Foster Understanding through Research

 

Scope & Guidelines

The Foundation requires a fund development contractor or consultant to support its efforts in raising funds for its strategic priorities and in supporting stewardship efforts with specific donors to the Foundation.  Requirements include:

  • Work closely with volunteer Board members and more specifically the Major Gifts Committee to develop and maintain the structure and follow-up necessary for project funding success;
  • Coordinate and develop cases for support, proposals and follow-up either independently or in concert with volunteer committees and staff;
  • Liaise with prospective, current and past majors donors to the Foundation
  • Produce appropriate stewardship materials for selected contributors and delivery as needed;
  • Develop and supplement prospect research as required;
  • Attend (via conference call) Major Gifts Committee meetings (approximately every two months);
  • Location is flexible, as long as respondent is located in Canada
  • Provide up to 4 days/32 hours per month for the above role.

Qualifications

Please submit:

  • An overview of your company/skills and any relevant experience;
  • A description of 3 projects, employers or clients that reflects your alignment with the project
  • Names and contact information for a minimum of 3 current references;
  • Fee expectations;
  • Bilingualism is an asset, but not required
  • A member of the successful firm and/or the respondent should be an AFP Member in good standing.

Evaluation Criteria

  • 50% experience;
  • 50% price

Submissions can be provided by e-mail, fax, courier or in person.  It is the responsibility of the presenter of the submission to ensure that it has arrived to the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy – Canada.    The Foundation is not responsible for lost or mis-directed proposals.  The Foundation reserves the right to not hire any respondents, or to re-release the RFP
