Reminder: New Registration Process for Alberta Charities
(Feb. 19, 2007) Nonprofit organizations in Alberta that fundraise more than $25,000 from individuals annually must soon register with a different office.
After April 1, 2007, charities can no longer register or renew with Alberta Registry Agents. Instead, registration (by mail or in person) must be conducted through one of two consumer field offices located in Calgary and Edmonton. Questions can be directed to the Service Alberta Contact Centre at (780) 427-4088 in Edmonton or toll free in Alberta at 1-877-427-4088.
Additional information on charitable registration, including helpful fact sheets, can be found at the Alberta government website.
