Help Protect the Charitable Deduction: Attend the Charitable Giving Coalition’s Capitol Hill Event
Please Note: The Charitable Giving Coalition’s inaugural Capitol Hill fly-in event: "Protect Giving—DC Days" on Dec. 4 and 5 is booked solid! Approximately 270 participants are attending the event. AFP, as chair of the coalition, expresses thanks and gratitude to those who are able to attend.
But we cannot limit our advocacy efforts to this one event. As Congress confronts the "fiscal cliff," our contacts on Capitol Hill continue to say that Democrats AND Republicans are strongly considering the implementation of a cap on itemized deductions as a way to avert the crisis.

AFP, as chair of the Charitable Giving Coalition, invites its U.S. members to attend the Charitable Giving Coalition’s inaugural Capitol Hill fly-in event, “Protect Giving-DC Days,” on Dec. 4 and 5. This is a great chance to meet with policymakers and their staffs to explain the impact that limitations on the charitable deduction, including cuts and caps, would have on your program and the people you serve.

AFP and the Charitable Giving Coalition recently submitted letters to President Obama and Governor Romney urging them to preserve the charitable deduction. Both President Obama and Governor Romney have proposed caps/limits on itemized deductions, including the charitable deduction, which could detrimentally impact charitable giving.
