Parliament Hill Day Planned for May
A coalition of charities and associations, including AFP, is planning to hold a lobbying day on Parliament Hill in mid-May to share key messages about fundraising and the voluntary sector with legislators during this important election year.
Representatives from AFP, Imagine Canada, PFC, the Centre for Impact Investing, CAGP, the United Way, CanadaHelps, SpirePhilanthropy, CEGN and CFC convened in early February to discuss collaborative areas, key policy ideas and media outreach.
From those discussions grew the idea of coming together to speak with legislators about critical public policy issues that are affecting philanthropy. The group is planning tentatively to hold the event on Thursday, May 14, as well as an evening reception the night before where participants will receive information and training on advocacy techniques and communications.
AFP will be providing more details about the event as plans come together and details are finalized. Chapter leaders are encouraged to attend the event, and AFP will be asking chapters to reach out to local donors and volunteers and inviting them to participate as well.
