Canadian Charities Can Now Complete Annual Returns Online
(May 29, 2007) Registered charities can now use fillable forms to complete their annual returns and attachments online at the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) website, although the forms must still be submitted to the agency via regular mail.
The following forms are available in a fillable PDF format that charities can print out when complete and mail to the CRA. Charities are reminded to print out extra copies for their records.
T2052 Registered Canadian Amateur Athletic Association Information Return
T1189 - Application to Register a Canadian Amateur Athletic Association Under the Income Tax Act
T3011 - Application for Designation as Associated Charities
According to the CRA website, the basic fillable forms are “the first step along the road to providing registered charities with electronic filing options in the future.”
While schedules for most of the CRA’s Roadshows are still being determined, dates and times for Alberta and British Columbia have been set. Clink on the links to register for the Roadshows in those provinces.
The Roadshows are open to all registered charities and feature CRA staff discussing some of the most frequently asked questions and issues regarding charity operations and management. The general outline for the sessions is below:
- Books, records & financial statements
- How best to prepare for an audit
- Tax-planning schemes
Questions can be directed to the Roadshow Coordinator at (613) 946-2407 or (800) 267-2384.
