Largest gathering of fundraisers in the world will address technology, demographics, donor relations and more!
What: The Association of Fundraising Professionals will bring together more than 4,000 charitable fundraisers for the 49th International Conference on Fundraising. The conference will address every aspect of fundraising, including online giving, special events and major gifts.
Presenters will address critical questions facing the sector, including how fundraisers can reach out to young people, if social media can be used to generate big gifts, and how traditional forms of fundraising such as direct mail fit with the increasing use of email and website giving.
Who: Speakers will include Scott Harrison, founder and president of charity: water, and hockey legend and philanthropist Wayne Gretzky, as well as Claire Diaz Ortiz, author of Twitter for Good: Change the World One Tweet at a Time and How to Fundraise on Social Media, and Lisa Shannon, author of A Thousand Sisters: My Journey into the Worst Place on Earth to Be a Woman.
During the conference AFP will honor the most generous and innovative donors and volunteers in the world with its Awards for Philanthropy. Featured honorees this year include Bell Canada, Outstanding Corporation; Claudia Looney (Los Angeles, Calif.), Outstanding Fundraising Professional; and Jeneece Edroff O.B.C. (Victoria, British Columbia), Outstanding Youth Philanthropist.
