Imagine Canada Officially Endorses Donor Bill of Rights
May 25, 2010
Earlier this year, the Imagine Canada board endorsed the Donor Bill of Rights as had been proposed by Imagine Canada's Ethical Code Committee.
Imagine Canada is a national charitable organization whose cause is Canada's charities and nonprofits. It reinforces the sector's collective voice, acts as a forum and meeting place and creates and environment in which organizations contribute to building stronger communities.
AFP and Imagine Canada collaborate closely and work in partnership on a number of fronts relating to philanthropy including our respective ethical codes, advocacy and research.
This collaborative effort, in particular, includes the organizations' respective codes of ethics. The Imagine Canada Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code is designed for registered charities, the AFP Code of Ethical Principles and Standards for individual and business members. Both AFP and Imagine reviewed the two codes, and the respective ethics committees of both organizations determined that the two codes were, in fact, complementary and consistent.
