AFP and ThePort Network Partner to Provide New Social Communications Tools to Fundraisers
April 28, 2010
The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) announces a partnership with ThePort Network to offer its members and chapters new and powerful social media tools and education.
ThePort Network will provide to AFP its flagship social media platform named ThePort Social. The new platform will create an online community in which members may interact with one another and through which AFP can deliver new value-added programs in a cost-effective manner. The platform also will allow members easier access to other members' domain expertise, power AFP chapters and strengthen AFP's global outreach.
"We are incredibly proud to partner with AFP to help them to socially enable their organization. Our joint vision is to provide a living model of how social media can be used to deliver new learning and networking opportunities to members," stated Bob Cramer, chairman and CEO of ThePort Network."Social media is changing the face of fundraising and offering new opportunities for donors and recipients to connect in meaningful new ways that drive contributions. We are excited to work through partnership with AFP to aid the fundraising profession as it transitions to using social media to achieve development objectives."
Just some of the services ThePort Network will provide include new and enhanced member-to-member networking opportunities, discussion forums, blogs, photo galleries and directories. Members will also have educational opportunities to better learn how to implement social media in their fundraising programs.
"Our partnership with ThePort Network will strengthen one of the most important aspects of AFP and any professional association: communication with colleagues and the open exchange of ideas, experience and perspectives," said Paulette V. Maehara, CFRE, CAE, president and CEO of AFP. "Our members have so much knowledge to share, and our collaboration with ThePort Network will allow effective and efficient interactions, leading to a stronger and more capable profession."
