New President and CEO Named to CFRE International

The CFRE International Board of Directors has announced that Denny Smith, Ph.D., will assume the position of president and chief executive officer beginning Feb. 1, 2010.
Smith will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of CFRE, the internationally-recognized professional credential program that is NCCA accredited for fundraising executives that today has certified more than 5,325 individuals worldwide.
A seasoned executive in nonprofit associations and credentialing, Smith was previously the senior area director/group manager for Pearson in Tampa, Florida, the largest testing and assessment provider in the United States. Prior to working for Pearson, Smith was the director of certification for the Financial Planning Standards Board in Denver, Colorado.
"As an association management executive with more than 14 years experience conducting assessment and credentialing activities in public, private and corporate settings, I feel uniquely qualified to lead CFRE and look forward to working with the CFRE Board and its certificants to advance the fundraising profession," Smith said.

Smith holds a doctorate in Educational Studies from Purdue University and a master's degree in School Psychology from Miami University.
