Your Place for Fundraising Answers: The AFP Fundraising Resource Center
August 13, 2007
(Aug. 13, 2007) You know that good friend, neighbor or relative that always seems to have the answers you are looking for in life? Don’t you wish you had someone like that for your job in fundraising? You could ask them about how to create a planned giving program or the newest trends in direct mail or annual giving campaigns.
As a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), you have such friends at your disposal and you may not have even realized it. They are the staff of the AFP Fundraising Resource Center, a member benefit absolutely free for AFP members, and they are just a phone call, an email or a mouse click away.
Every service provided by the resource center is individualized to each member’s particular request. Responses include articles from more 3,200 different sources, as well as samples of different kinds of documents. Resource center staff members have more than 21 years of combined experience working with AFP and can often work with members to pinpoint the exact type of information needed.
Here are just a few of the services you can access at the AFP Fundraising Resource Center:
- Gift acceptance policies
- Interstate registration requirements
- Tax information about federal relief giving
- Chapter newsletter samples
- General fundraising information of almost any kind!
To access the resource center, members can go online here, call 1-800-688-FIND (3463) or email email@example.com. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. Please allow at least 48 hours for your personalized research request to be completed.

There is also a new and up-to-the-minute method of keeping informed on the world of fundraising. It’s called the AFP Fundraising Resource Center Blog of Blogs and acts as a filter compiling all the latest news that a busy fundraiser might want to follow.
The AFP blog (short for weblog, a way of quickly posting and commenting on information via the World Wide Web) is actually a portal to other, more specific, topical blogs such as Disaster Relief, National Philanthropy Day®, and Nonprofit Technology. By posting comments you can put in your two cents about what is going on in the fundraising world. To access the AFP Blog of Blogs, click here.
The AFP Fundraising Resource Center is here to serve you. Don’t let good questions go unanswered!
