New Jersey Fundraising Consultant Earns Field's Highest Professional Credential

October 3, 2013

Tri Point Fundraising founder Amy Eisenstein to receive award October 4, 2013

ARLINGTON, Va. – On Friday, Oct. 4, New Jersey fundraising consultant and founder of Tri Point Fundraising Amy Eisenstein will be awarded the field's highest professional certification, the Advanced Certified Fundraising Executive (ACFRE), by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

Eisenstein is the 99th fundraising professional in the US, and only the second in New Jersey, to earn the certification.

The ACFRE program is the most rigorous certification process available to professional fundraisers. The process includes a comprehensive application detailing achievements in  practice, education, publishing, teaching, and service to the profession; a written examination  that measures a candidate’s knowledge of fundraising as well as the philosophical, ethical, and social aspects of philanthropy; a portfolio representing the candidate’s body of professional work; and an oral peer review in which the candidate must articulate a mastery of advanced-level knowledge in fundraising management, leadership, and ethics.

“The Association of Fundraising Professionals isn't just the largest professional organization for nonprofit fundraisers in the world – the AFP is also on the forefront in creating and raising standards for our field,” said Eisenstein. “While I had to work hard to earn this certification, I'm proud to have done so – and grateful for all of the work AFP has done to nurture, support, and grow our profession.”

“Amy Eisenstein is one of the top people in fundraising – not only that, but her professionalism and ethics exemplify everything that AFP stands for,” said Michael Baker, president of AFP New Jersey. “She hasn't just earned this certification – she has set an example for others in our field to follow.”

Eisenstein is a consultant, author, speaker, and coach, as well as the principal of Tri Point Fundraising,

a full-service nonprofit consulting firm. She is the author of two books on fundraising; 50 Asks in 50 Weeks (2010, Charity Channel Press) and Raising More with Less, (2012, Charity Channel Press) and is working on her third book, a guide on raising major gifts for small development shops. As a leading expert in her field, Eisenstein speaks at national and international conferences on a variety of nonprofit and fundraising- related topics. Her blog, which can be found at www.tripointfundraising.com, is currently featuring a series on raising major gifts called The Major Gifts Challenge.

Eisenstein has earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Douglass College at Rutgers University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the Wagner Graduate School at New York University. She is the president-elect of the New Jersey Chapter of AFP and will assume the presidency in January 2014.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals, which represents nearly 30,000 members in more than 200 chapters throughout the world, advances philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. The AFP fosters the professional development of fundraising professionals and promotes ethical standards in the fundraising profession.
