Fundraisers Give Back at International Conference in Chicago
April 12, 2011
Fundraisers lent a helping hand to the community at the 48th AFP International Conference on Fundraising in Chicago, March 20-22.
AFP assembled and distributed 500 kits of toys, books and supplies to 12 different Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago with help from Good360 (formerly Gifts in Kind International). AFP thanks the conference attendees who offered a hand creating the kits.
"AFP Gives Back, a service project open to all attendees at our International Conference on Fundraising this year, shows that fundraisers are ready and willing to go beyond their professional duties to make a difference," said Andrew Watt, FInstF, president and CEO of AFP. "Fundraising is about more than just raising money, it is about taking part in charitable causes we believe in. My thanks to all who participated in this service project benefiting Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago."
"We are grateful to AFP for making this project possible and showing that there are so many ways to give back," said Cindy Hallberlin, CEO and president of Good360. "Projects like this one with AFP help our organization provide nonprofits with access to in-kind donations that help them drive their missions and build capacity." More information can be found at www.good360.org/AFP.
U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski, who represents the third Congressional district of Illinois, was also on hand for the delivery of the kits.
Donated products were provided by Good360 corporate partners, including Crayola, Disney, Jakks, Little Brown Books, Mattel, Scentsy, and Toms of Maine. Freeman donated the onsite handling help. Donated transportation was provided by The Custom Companies, Inc. and arranged by the Illinois Trucking Association and the American Trucking Associations, a Good360 partner organization.
