Inaugural AFP Canada Board of Directors Announced
April 3, 2017
The Association of Fundraising Professionals is pleased to announce the creation of the inaugural AFP Canada Board of Directors. Through the work of the New Horizons Task Force, as well as New Horizons Transition Task Force, formal recommendations were made to the AFP Board of Directors and implementation is now underway.
The inaugural AFP Canada Board will begin its work now through the end of the year. A second call for nominations will take place in the late summer, with new Board members and the Chair-Elect position beginning their terms on January 1, 2018.
"This has been a labour of love but the result has been extraordinary and is something that is going to benefit AFP members in Canada for many years to come," said Nick Offord, chair of both the AFP Canada New Horizons Transition Task Force and the Committee on Directorship. "I'm proud that we've been so diligent about hearing from all Canadians about what we can do to best serve them. I think we've created a body and a process that will represent and work for all AFP Canada members, as well as keep us linked to the work of AFP International so our efforts and impact are aligned."

"It's critical that we start off strong so we can ensure early success and demonstrate to our Canadian members how this new structure will help them. We need to think strategically right from the beginning about our opportunities and impact, as well as infrastructure and processes. I think we are starting from a place of strength with this new board, and I'm looking forward to working with everyone."
Jason Lee, AFP Interim President & CEO, and Ann Hale, AFP International Chair, will be serving on the board in ex officio capacities and will be working to link the new AFP Canada Board to AFP International's overall priorities.
