(May 26, 2008) AFP members are always accepting new challenges and exciting career opportunities, as well as receiving accolades for their commitment and service. Here are some job announcements, appointments, promotions and recognitions for May 2008.
Rhonda Belser-Davis is now the director of development and public relations for Art Papers in Atlanta, Ga. She was formerly the development manager for Theatrical Outfit in Atlanta.
Judi DeJager is now major gifts officer at St. Francis House in Boston, Mass. Previously, she was associate director of giving ministries for Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago.
Nicki Meade Draves has accepted the position of executive director for the Neponset Valley Philharmonic Orchestra in Boston, Mass. Her previous position was as development associate and membership coordinator for Fuller Museum in Brockton, Mass.
Reuven Doron is now the director of development for Metro Hope Ministries in Minneapolis, Minn. He previously served as donor services and outreach officer at the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation in Owatonna, Minn.
Maggie Hightower, executive director for the Jacksonville Public Library Foundation in Jacksonville, Fla., was recently selected by the Jacksonville Business Journal as a “Top 40 under 40” nominee, Northeast Florida’s Most Promising Up and Comers.
Jessica Lindley has established her own firm, Austin Grant Writing & Fund Raising, in Austin, Texas. She has over 15 years of fundraising and consulting experience, and has held executive fundraising positions at United Way and Meals on Wheels.
Carolyn Martchenke retired last summer after 44 years in the nonprofit sector, including serving as executive director of the Fort Worth branch of Prevent Blindness Texas for the past nine years. She has been an active member of AFP since 1977. Since retiring, she has joined the board of Wings of Hope Equitherapy Center, and she and her husband volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Mark McCampbell, CFRE, has accepted the position of vice president of development for the Seattle Symphony in Seattle, Wash. He was formerly the campaign director for the Virginia Mason Foundation in Seattle.
Daniel J. McGlone has been promoted to vice president and chief development officer for the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) in New York, N.Y. He previously was director of development for the association.
Pamela Paquette has accepted the position of director of development for the Women’s Center in Melbourne, Fla. She was previously a philanthropy associate for Wuesthoff Health System Foundation in Rockledge, Fla.
Patricia Dolan Reidinger is now a corporate and foundation relations officer with East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C. She previously served as the development manager for the National Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Shreveport, La.
Melissa Steimer has joined Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah, as its new capital campaigns manager. She served most recently as chief development officer with Alegent Health Foundation in Omaha, Neb.
Judy Webster is now the assistant executive director of the Allen Community Outreach in Allen, Texas. She left the Plano Chamber of Commerce in Plano, Texas, where she served as director of networking.
