Member Motion/Accolades: April 2008

(April 21, 2008) AFP members are always accepting new challenges and exciting career opportunities, as well as receiving accolades for their commitment and service. Here are some job announcements, appointments, promotions and recognitions for April 2008.

Samantha Blauwkamp is now the executive director for Albuquerque Meals on Wheels in Albuquerque, N.M. She was formerly the foundation director for the ARCA (Association for Retarded Citizens of Albuquerque) Foundation in Albuquerque.

Dennis P. Buckley, CFRE has recently been appointed director of leadership gifts at The Sage Colleges in Troy, N.Y.  He was previously charitable resources officer for Glens Falls Hospital in Glens Falls, N.Y.

Dana Kowalchyk has accepted the position of development manager for Raising a Reader in Boston, Mass. She served previously as development manager for CityKicks in Dorchester, Mass.

Rebecca Lamb, CFRE, has been promoted to director of annual giving for UNC Asheville in Asheville, N.C. She was formerly the annual fund officer for the organization.

Anita R. Lambert has been promoted to director of development, western region, of the Foundation Fighting Blindness in Los Angeles, Calif. She was previously director of development, Southern California, for the foundation.

Francesca Lanning has been promoted to vice president for institutional advancement, for Saint Peter’s Preparatory School in Jersey City, N.J. She was previously the director of development for the school.

William Leh, CFRE, has been named senior consultant with Farr Healey Consulting in Macungie, Pa. He was formerly executive director with Communities in Schools of the Lehigh Valley in Allentown, Pa.

Annie Lehmer has accepted the position of development associate with the United Indians of All Tribes Foundation in Seattle, Wash. Previously, she was with the Nordic Heritage Museum in Seattle as capital campaign associate.

Janet S. McEwen, MA, CAE, is now the director, development and corporate relations for the American Society of Radiologic Technologists Education and Research Foundation in Albuquerque, N.M. She was formerly with the American College of Emergency Physicians in Dallas, Texas, working in association and corporate relations.

Jarrett Ransom has been named chief development officer for The Centers for Habilitation in Tempe, Ariz. He was promoted from development coordinator with the organization.

Mazarine Treyz is now the senior development and communications officer at the Urban League of Portland in Portland, Ore. Previously she was with Clackamas Women's Services in Milwaukie, Ore., as a development associate.

Jennifer Banks Vickers has been appointed managing director of the Homeless Children’s Education Fund (HCEF), based in Pittsburgh, PA. Mrs. Vickers was previously program and development manager for the organization.

Nathaniel Warshay, MA, LBSW, has joined the Henry Ford Health System Department of Philanthropy in Detroit, Mich., as senior grants officer. He previously managed corporate and foundation relations for The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division in Southfield, Mich.

Jamie Weissburg has been named financial development director for the YMCA of Dane County in Madison, Wis. She was formerly the associate executive director for the Les Turner ALS Foundation in Skokie, Ill.

Kate Hofheimer Wilson is the new major gifts officers-Hampton Roads for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation based in Norfolk, Va. She was previously the donor relations manager for WHRO in Norfolk.   

Vicki Yarnal, CFRE, has joined Boys & Girls Clubs of Petaluma in Petaluma, Calif., serving Sonoma County. She was formerly with the Girl Scouts at the councils in western North Carolina and northern California.
