(March 24, 2008) AFP members are always accepting new challenges and exciting career opportunities, as well as receiving accolades for their commitment and service. Here are some job announcements, appointments, promotions and recognitions for March 2008.
Kamali (Kami) Barron is now serving as executive director of the Greater Round Rock Community Foundation in Round Rock, Texas. She served previously as vice president, administration, for the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce.
Tereza Byrne has been named vice president of development and external affairs for the International Fund for Animal Welfare in Washington, D.C. She was formerly bureau chief for marketing and development for ADRA International in Silver Spring, Md.
Alyssa Cholodofsky, CFRE, has been named director of development & communications at Family Services of Western Pennsylvania in Pittsburgh, Pa. She was previously director of development at Imani Christian Academy in Pittsburgh.
Lisa Street Clark has been named chief operating officer for StreetFund, LLC in San Antonio, Texas. She served previously as director of operations & marketing for the firm.
Leslie Clay has been hired as the director of community development for LIFT (Literacy Instruction for Texas) in Dallas, Texas. Previously, she was the executive director of The Classics in Plano, Texas.
Tricia Collier has been named director of development for the Jennifer S. Fallick Cancer Support Centerin Homewood, Ill. She was previously the director of resource development and community relations for the Crisis Center for South Suburbia in Tinley Park, Ill.
Ira B. Cooperman, CFRE, director of philanthropy at the Masonic Care Community in Utica, N.Y., has been elected president of the board of directors of the Utica Symphony Orchestra.
Adam M. Greenwald has been promoted to assistant director of development and public affairs for Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion Los Angeles. He was previously director of development for American Jewish University in Bel Air, Calif.
Alan H. Grossman, CFRE, has been hired as associate director of major gifts at Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J. He served previously as associate director of annual giving at William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J.
Michelle Hamilton, CFRE, has established a consulting practice in Charlotte, N.C. She was formerly director of development for the Arts Council of Fort Worth and Tarrant County in Fort Worth, Texas.
Cheryl Hogan is now the associate director of annual giving for The Boys & Girls Club of the Peninsula in Menlo Park, Calif. Previously, she was development associate at The Girls’ Middle School in Mountain View, Calif.
Carole Kauffman has been promoted to chief learning & development officer at Neighborhood Housing Services of Phoenix in Phoenix, Ariz. She was previously resource development manager with the organizations.
Jeff Kost has joined the Association of Nutrition Services Agencies in Washington, DC, as its development director. He was previously deputy executive director for external affairs at the Center for Nonprofit Advancement, located in Washington.
Danielle Marino, CFRE, knowledge manager at Blackbaud, was recently elected to the board of directors of Equality Advocates in Philadelphia, Pa.
Vincent Mickens has been promoted to senior director of development at The AOPA (Airline Owners & Pilots Association) Foundation in Frederick, Md. He was formerly the director of development of the foundation.
Catherine Onyemelukwe, CFRE, has joined Bridgeport Child Advocacy Coalition in Bridgeport, Conn., as director of development and communications. She was previously an independent consultant.
Yvonne M. Orr has been named resource development manager for Mercy Housing Lakefront in Chicago, Ill. She was previously president of YORR Consulting Group, LLC, in Chicago.
Rick Reichert, CFRE, has been named major gifts officer at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash. He has worked for several nonprofits in the Seattle area.
Cheryl J. Smoot, CFRE, has joined the American Cancer Society as senior director of major gifts for the Ohio Division in Dublin, Ohio. Most recently, she was director of development for the Columbus Symphony Orchestra in Columbus, Ohio.
Shanan Spencer-Brown, CFRE, has been named the first executive director of the Kinark Foundation in Markham, Ontario. Previously, she was the director of planning and development for Child Development Institute in Toronto.
Nan Langen Steketee has joined The Women’s Law Project in Philadelphia, Pa., as development director. She served most recently as bay area development manager for Earth Share of California in San Francisco, Calif.
Dani Stolley is now the executive director of Ecolution, Inc., in Appleton, Wis. She was formerly the director of fundraising and donor relations for the Green Bay Botanical Gardens in Green Bay, Wis.
Susan Wilson has been promoted to development manager for the Health Education Council in West Sacramento, Calif. She was previously office manager/administrative assistant for the organization.
