Nominations Still Open for Campbell & Company Awards for Excellence in Fundraising
August 4, 2009
The Campbell & Company Awards for Excellence in Fundraising are presented to nonprofit organizations' development departments or fundraising programs that have developed an innovative initiative, program or project design, or technique that has increased their donor base, increased the amount of funds raised and improved their fundraising return on investment.
One award will be given in each of two categories based on organizational size. Winning organizations will receive a $1,500 prize.
Unlike the other honors, nominations for the Campbell & Company Awards for Excellence in Fundraising are due Sept. 15, and supporting materials are allowed.
“Despite the challenging economy of the past year, many organizations are seeing success in their fundraising,” said Paulette V. Maehara, CFRE, CAE, president and CEO of AFP. “If anything, the current environment is forcing fundraisers to become even more creative and resourceful in their strategy and planning, and the Campbell and Company award is designed specifically to recognize those kinds of efforts. I’m really looking forward to seeing what type of innovative and successful programs AFP members have developed.”
Maehara also thanked Campbell and Company for their support of the award. “This will be the 14th year that Campbell & Company has worked with AFP to honor outstanding fundraising achievements, and we are grateful for their support,” she said.
Eligibility and Criteria
Any nonprofit organization that employs an AFP member is eligible to participate in the awards program. The nomination must be endorsed by an AFP chapter. An organization is not eligible to be nominated for an award in a year during which a person affiliated with it serves on the AFP Awards Committee. A chapter may endorse more than one nomination a year.
The Campbell & Company Awards for Excellence in Fundraising will be presented to programs that improve an organization’s overall fundraising program through:
- Increased donor base
- Increased funds raised
- Streamlined administrative structure
- Reduced fundraising costs
- Enhanced overall revenue
Any type of fundraising campaign (raising philanthropic dollars for a charitable cause) is eligible for the awards, including annual giving campaigns; capital campaigns; planned giving programs; major gift campaigns; online or Internet fundraising campaigns; special events or overall advancement programs.
One award will be given in each of two categories based on organizational size:
- Small: Five or fewer employees in the fundraising department
- Large: More than five employees in the fundraising department
