What Does it Mean to Be a Mentor?
July 24, 2013
The Association of Fundraising Professionals understands the importance of mentoring in the fundraising profession. We place such a priority on it that we built a tool kit for chapters to use in developing their own local mentoring programs. In addition, the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy – Canada is making funds available, on an annual basis, to further help Canadian chapters develop mentoring programs.
Now it’s your turn to speak up. Tell us the difference that mentoring has made in your career, either as a mentor or mentee. Share some of the strategies your chapter is putting in place to build a mentoring program. Explain why mentoring needs to be a part of the fundraising profession.
Not very good with words? Don’t worry—we’ve got an Editor to help with that. Send your ideas, comments or article to Lisa MacDonald, email@example.com. She’ll organize the submissions and begin sharing them in the September issue of AFP eWire Canada.
Get “mentoring” off your to-do list and into the “current activity” area of your monthly work plan.
