Rationale for Accord

In addition to reviewing the activities of all chapters and enabling AFP to assess the services we currently provide, the Accord process is vital to maintaining AFP's ability to offer all U.S. chapters 501(c)(3) status and provide Directors' and Officers' liability insurance and General liability insurance to all chapters. AFP Board of Directors will review all chapters not In Accord at the March, July and October board meetings. Chapters not In Accord by March will lose voting privileges; by July, the chapter's dues revenue will be suspended until the chapter is In Accord; by October, the Board may vote to revoke a chapter's charter.

If you wish to compete for the Ten Star Award, to be awarded at the 2016 International Conference, both the Dec. 15, 2016 and Jan. 17, 2017 deadlines must be met.

Please note that all Canadian chapters have two important accord items due: the 2016 Form T2 (due June 30, 2017) and the 2017/2018  AFP Canadian Chapter Leadership (due July 7, 2017). 

2016 Form T2 - Due June 30, 2017

Please submit your chapter’s 2016 Form T2 or T2 Short, Corporation Income Tax Return or 2016 Form T-1044, Non-Profit Information Return (In addition to T2 – only for those chapters with annual revenue from taxable dividends, interest, rentals, or royalties in excess of $10,000 OR total assets in excess of $200,000) to

2017/2018  AFP Canadian Chapter Leadership - Due July 7, 2017

In 2014 the Canada Not-For-Profit Corporations Act introduced a requirement that all Canadian chapters hold their Annual General Meeting (AGM) within six months of their fiscal year.  The AGM must include three agenda items.

  • Approval of the prior fiscal years financial statements (audited or otherwise).
  • Approval of the auditor if applicable
  • Approval of the Board of Directors slate 

Because of this legal requirement to hold your AGM between January 1 – June 30th each year, AFP changed the term of office for your chapter boards to July 1 – June 30th. Please submit your 2017/2018 chapter leadership form online here:
