2014: A Transition Year for the Every Member Campaign

Last year, the EMC Participation Task Force compiled information and sifted through recommendations from chapter leaders about overhauling the Every Member Campaign.  Everyone agreed that collaboration is the key to the success of future annual campaigns.

The Foundation’s ultimate goal is to launch a completely rebranded campaign in 2015. But we didn’t want to wait to implement several positive changes in 2014. The bold steps outlined below will strengthen the important collaboration between the Foundation and the chapters. This year we will also initiate a new plan to communicate more regularly with Foundation Development Chairs through webinars, conference calls, email messages and the FDC e-newsletter.

  1. We’re streamlining the process for you!
    1. Starting in 2014 it will be easier for you and your chapter to “qualify” to receive a portion of the funds raised from the 2013 Every Member Campaign.
    2. You will NOT have to complete the cumbersome Chapter Partnership Grant (CPG) application and report forms.
    3. Your chapter will simply acknowledge acceptance of your 2013 giving total and your allocation amount via email in 2014.Your 2014 allocation will still be 25% of your total 2013 funds raised, and you must have reached your 2013 goal to qualify.
    4. This percentage will be the same for the 2014 campaign. However, the percentage for 2015 is still a work in progress.

  2. You'll be getting your 2013 allocation earlier in 2014!
    1. You WILL receive your chapter’s allocation much earlier in the year.
    2. The Foundation will advance this timing from the fourth quarter to the third quarter 2014.

  3. We’ll build a much stronger case for why AFP members should support our mission.
    1. The Foundation will focus on transparency and demonstrate how we are good stewards of our donors’ investments.
    2. The Foundation will highlight the stories of the people and organizations benefiting from national and international programs and services.

  4. We’re providing you with more tools, support and opportunities to customize your campaign!
    1. A new 2014 Campaign Toolkit will include templates for materials such as letters, postcards, email messages, scripts, PowerPoint slides, website banners, etc.
    2. These resources will be designed to be customized, so that you can incorporate specific chapter information along with Foundation messaging.
    3. Your chapter will be able to pick and choose which tools are best suited to help you educate, cultivate, solicit and steward your members through the Every Member Campaign.
    4. The Foundation will launch a new website with enhanced online donation capabilities.

This year the evolution of the Every Member Campaign begins.  We can’t do this without you.  And that includes helping to set an aggressive, yet realistic goal for your Chapter.   It truly is a partnership to advance ethical and effective fundraising worldwide.
