New National Philanthropy Day® Materials Available
August 10, 2008
(Aug. 11, 2008) A number of additions, enhancements and revisions have been made to AFP’s program to support National Philanthropy Day® (NPD) chapter events.
Principal among the changes are significant changes to the NPD Manual, the guidebook that provides an overview of many of the key aspects of NPD. The guidebook has been placed on the AFP website in sections, so that users can click quickly to the information they need. The new online layout will also make it easier to find sample materials submitted by chapters.
Since sponsorships have become an important way chapters generate revenue and develop relationships for their NPD events, this section of the manual has been increased and enhanced with a number of sample materials.
In addition, new programs are available for chapters just beginning or considering holding an NPD event. There is a new document outlining the ten most important things a chapter needs to know in starting its event, as well as a chapter mentorship program. If chapters have questions about an NPD event, or would like guidance from a chapter that has a long-established celebration, they will be linked with leaders from other chapters who can help them. More information can be found here, and AFP would welcome interest from members who have NPD experience and would be willing to serve as mentors.
AFP encourages chapters to send in samples of any aspect of their NPD work, including invitations, schedules, timelines, sponsorship materials, press releases, programs and other documents. These samples can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
All of these projects were developed through the NPD Review Task Force, chaired by Scott Staub, ACFRE, and AFP greatly appreciates their work and support. Members included:

Video and Other Materials
AFP is also developing a video for chapters to use during their NPD celebration. The video will be short, approximately two-and-a-half minutes in length, and will provide a general overview of NPD and the role of AFP in ensuring ethical and effective fundraising and philanthropy. The video will be distributed to chapters in early September.
In addition, NPD talking points will be available in late August. All of AFP’s materials in support of NPD can be found here on the AFP website.
